It’s five alive in Ammanford!
Ammanford AFC 5 Undy Athletic 2 Ammanford AFC needed the win this afternoon on a very blustery Recreation Ground Ammanford. A five goal performance sent the Ammanford black and white army home very satisfied with this win and a vital three league points. A goal after only four minutes played in this game for Ammanford was just the tonic the home side needed when Morgan Clarke scored with a low shot from outside the area into the right hand corner of the net. The Undy defence stood still and simply watched on as the ball entered their goal. 1-0 Ammanford were dominant but squandered a glut of chances with most falling to young striker Tristan Jenkins who could have been presented with the match ball at half time. Ammanford went two nil up on 35 mins with Lee Trundle firing home after a good run and cross from Ammanford’s midfield dynamo Matthew Fisher. 2-0 Undy also had their chances in the first half with Craig Morris making two excellent saves. Ammanford centre back Euros Griffiths was commanding in defence whilst Owyn Airey gave an accomplished performance in the midfield. Tristan Jenkins added Ammanford’s third on the stroke of half time firing home off the underside of the Undy crossbar . 3-0 Half Time Ammanford were back on the front foot after the break. Tristan Jenkins hitting the ball into the left hand corner of the Undy goal after a fantastic turn and an unstoppable shot. Probably the best strike of the entire game. 4-0 Richard Lewis completed Ammanford’s scoring in the 59th minute, hitting the ball past the keeper after being put through and slotting into an empty net. Ammanford then took their foot off the gas allowing Undy back into the game. Kane Jellyman heading home from close range in the 73rd minute after beating Ammanford’s goalkeeper Morris to a cross. 5-1 Undy scored again from a penalty five minutes later after Ammanford’s goalkeeper Craig Morris was adjudged to have brought an Undy player down in the penalty area. Up stepped Undy’s Oliver Smith whom sent Morris the wrong way from his spot kick. 5-2 Undy pressed hard in the last ten minutes of the game but there were no further goals as the referee blew his whistle for full time.
