After the trials, tribulations and uncertainty surrounding the offseason, Ammanford make a welcome return competitive action for the first time in the 2023/24 term with a long trip to Blaenau Gwent to take on Abertillery Bluebirds in the First Round of the Nathanial Cars MG Cup.
Town enjoyed a successful preseason, winning three and drawing one as they remained undefeated since losing 2-0 to Pontardawe in the final game of last season.
It will be a new look team taking to the field in East Wales tomorrow with Gruff Harrison bolstering his squad with no less than eight new faces in his squad. Jack Lansdown, Adam Orme, Harry Huddart, Lewis Reed, Leon Luby and Adam John will be looking to make their competitive bows for the club whilst Nich Arnold and Tristan Jenkins will be hoping to make second debuts having re-joined in the summer.
Town will be taking to the field under the stewardship of Luke Harris following our recent announcement that he will be taking the armband for the Harrison’s side this term.
The field they will be taking to is the Candour Talent Stadium, home of the Abertillery Bluebirds. The Bluebirds enjoyed a very successful season last time out. They go into 2023/24 as a new face in the JD Cymru South having won the Ardal South East in their previous campaign.
This is a competition which has seen Ammanford enjoy success over the years. Last season took Town in the quarter final stage where we were beaten 3-0 by Cymru Premier Side Cardiff Met whilst the season prior, a legendary trip to Newtown saw Town come up narrowly short in the second round. Should the game end level after 90 minutes tomorrow, the game will head straight to a penalty shootout.
Kick off tomorrow is at 2:30pm. For members of the Black and White Army travelling, the postcode for the Candour Talent Stadium is NP13 2PR. Live updates will be available through the club twitter account and through the Cymru Premier App.
