Ammanford secured back-to-back home wins with an impressive second-half performance against Taffs Well at the Recreation Ground.

After a first half devoid of goal-mouth action, goals from Callum Thomas, Rhys Davies, and Harrison Lewis ensured Wyn Thomas’ men continued their climb up the JD Cymru South table.

Both sides traded set-piece chances early on, with Jak Carson and Adam John coming close for their respective teams.

The visitors edged a tense and closely contested first half but were limited to four long-range efforts, all comfortably held by the returning Luke Martin.

After an opening period with few opportunities, the home side took the lead with their first chance of the second half. Thomas broke down the left flank, exchanged passes with Lewis Reed, and calmly slotted the ball past Shaun Gardiner to give Town the advantage.

Taffs Well nearly equalised five minutes later, but Martin made a stunning point-blank save. The follow-up scramble was cleared by some heroic defending to keep the hosts in front.

Ammanford doubled their lead with twenty minutes to play. This time, Thomas turned provider with a sumptuous through-ball that split the opposition defence. Davies timed his run to perfection and finished beautifully from close range for his second goal of the season.

After extending their advantage, the hosts played with growing freedom in attack, nearly adding a third through several chances. Adam John’s lob sailed just over the bar, a deflected shot rolled inches wide, and Gardiner produced two excellent saves from close range.

The third goal eventually came two minutes from time. A corner from the left was met by the head of Harrison Lewis, who nodded home from six yards out, sealing his first goal in Ammanford colours and capping off a confident second-half performance for the Carmarthenshire side.
