Ammanford AFC is delighted to lend its support to the Ammanford Food Bank at this Friday’s fixture against Caerau Ely.
The food bank, based at Y Llusern, Wind Street in the town, offers help to the most vulnerable in our community, providing food packages during these difficult economic times.
A fortnight ago, the club was saddened to see a video posted on the food bank’s social media pages, highlighting the decline in stock and the urgent need to refill the shelves so that aid could reach those who need it most.
Therefore, as a club, and with the blessing of the food bank, it was decided that the fixture against Caerau Ely would serve as a collection point for donations to this incredible cause.
We are encouraging supporters from across the Amman Valley, and beyond, to attend the Recreation Ground and bring with them items of non-perishable food. These donations will be passed on to the food bank to help replenish their stock.
Donations of all non-perishable food items are welcome, but the food bank is particularly in need of tinned meat, tea, coffee, UHT milk, jam, and biscuits.
Chairman Rob Thomas stated, “Ammanford AFC is a community club, and it brings people from far and wide to the Recreation Ground. We are in awe of the amazing work done by the food bank, so to hear they were struggling was disheartening. It was a unanimous decision from all concerned that we wanted to do something to help.”
What to do on Friday:
- Come along to the Recreation Ground for the match between Ammanford AFC and Caerau Ely (kick-off at 7:30pm).
- Bring donations of non-perishable food items.
- Drop your donations off at the Jac Lewis Centre, either before or during the match.
