Ammanford slipped out of the promotion places on goal difference after falling to defeat away at Caerau Ely.

Dan John had drawn the sides level before the interval after the Young Guns struck first; however a second half brace from Tim Parker earned the hosts all three points and moved them above the Black and Whites in the table.

Clear chances were scarce during the early passages although Callum Thomas forced Harry Irving into an early stop when he cut in from the left and curled an effort goalwards. At the other end Chris Bell’s alert defending prevented a certain opener, heading clear after a fierce strike from distance.

Ely pressed high throughout and that pressure paid off just before the half hour. Parker slipped in Hywel Davies who bent his shot beyond Luke Martin to break the deadlock.

Town responded strongly and were inches from an immediate equaliser when John’s header drifted just over. Moments before the break however he made no mistake, bringing the ball down superbly in the box, turning sharply and driving a low shot in off the post to deservedly restore parity.

Ammanford almost went in ahead as well, Owain Davies’ powerful free kick drawing a firm save from Irving right on half time.

After the restart the hosts began brightly and Martin produced a brilliant point blank block to turn the ball behind only three minutes into the second half.

However, from the resulting corner, Ely retook the lead. A deep delivery found Parker unmarked inside the six yard box and left him with a simple header to give his side the advantage.

Town pushed forward in search of a second equaliser of the contest. A series of corners from both sides came to nothing and although Ammanford worked the flanks well, clear openings proved elusive.

With twenty minutes remaining the home side put the contest beyond reach. An excellent cross from the left found Parker who powered in his second of the evening and his third of the season to make it 3–1.

Wyn Thomas introduced four substitutes in an effort to spark a comeback and one almost delivered. Alex Giardelli adjusted brilliantly to connect with an acrobatic attempt which Irving held.

Ammanford did have the ball in the net late on when fellow replacements Macsen Llewelyn and Matthew Fisher combined smartly in the box; the assistant’s flag denied them what would have been a lifeline and Town slipped to back to back defeats for the first time since March 2025.
