Ammanford’s hold on the final promotion place loosened slightly after a 3–1 reverse at Afan Lido.

Town had briefly restored parity when Adam John struck his fifth of the season, cancelling out Cameron Keetch’s early finish. However, playing a man short for the entire second half following a red card late in the first half proved too great a burden, and experienced duo Liam Griffiths and Liam McCreesh secured the points for the hosts.

The momentum generated by last week’s impressive win over Aberystwyth evaporated almost immediately. Lido seized the initiative inside ten minutes when Keetch curled a precise effort beyond Luke Martin and into the far corner.

Ammanford responded with purpose. Adam John created an opening for Dan John, whose header drifted narrowly wide. Moments later, the on-loan Cardiff Met star  broke clear of the defence and seemed certain to score, only for a superb recovering challenge from Cai Owens to deny him.

Lido threatened again when Griffiths slid in to meet a low cross, sending the ball inches past the upright. That miss was punished almost instantly. Gavin Jones forced a save from Exauce Dimonekene, and Adam John reacted quickest to tuck away the rebound.

The match’s decisive moment arrived shortly before the break. A minor confrontation between Griffiths and Matt Delaney drew the attention of the assistant referee, and after consultation, the officials produced a red card for the Ammanford midfielder.

With Town reduced to ten, the management team introduced Thomas Johnston to reinforce the centre of the pitch, withdrawing Gavin Jones to reshape the side. The adjustment steadied the contest for a spell, limiting clear chances for both teams.

The pendulum of momentum shifted in favour of the hosts midway through the half. John Hall’s diagonal pass found Griffiths inside the area and the striker drove a powerful effort across Martin to restore Lido’s advantage.

Any remaining hope of a late response faded twelve minutes from time when Jak Carson was felled in the box. McCreesh stepped up and hammered the penalty into the roof of the net, sealing Ammanford’s fourth league defeat of the campaign.
