Dan John’s 14th goal of the season was enough to secure Ammanford a crucial three points as they continued their push for promotion.

The on‑loan Cardiff Met forward latched onto skipper Adam Orme’s perfectly weighted pass to seal victory on a tricky night for Town.

Ammanford thought they had made the ideal start when Chris Bell rose to head Charlie Davies’ corner into the far corner inside the opening minute. However, as the former Llantwit defender wheeled away, the referee blew for a foul and the effort was ruled out.

Tom Johnston then fizzed a half‑volley over before the visitors, eager to respond after last week’s heavy defeat to Caerau Ely, created two chances of their own, both drifting narrowly over the bar.

Their wastefulness proved costly as Town broke the deadlock just after the half hour. Orme threaded a superb ball between two defenders for John, who rounded goalkeeper Matthew Stanton and rolled it into an empty net.

It was almost two before the interval when Callum Thomas’ cross flashed across the six‑yard box, but no one in Black and White could apply the decisive touch.

Baglan emerged stronger after the restart and created a golden opportunity on 56 minutes. Neat play down the right found Aritom Legavec on the penalty spot, but the Lithuanian’s effort looped over via a deflection.

Ammanford threatened again when Seth Woodhouse’s deep cross reached John, though the striker’s header drifted wide.

Town’s inability to find a second set up a tense finish. Baglan pressed relentlessly, winning a series of free kicks in dangerous areas, but the back line, marshalled by Bell and Euros Griffiths, held firm.

With the final play of the match, Jordan Pike attempted to catch Luke Martin out from distance, yet the keeper held confidently at his near post to earn his 11th clean sheet of the campaign and secure a vital victory with just four games remaining.
