A chilly evening at the Recreation Ground Ammanford saw the visitors from Pontypridd come away with a deserved win and a valuable three league points.
For Ammanford , it was to say the least a very disappointing display that did nothing to warm up their supporters who braved the elements.
The first half hour of this game was a stalemate with neither team able to get a grip on the game.
However in the 37th minute an Ammanford defensive lapse allowed Pontypridd striker Tyrrell Webbe to pounce on an intended chest back from defender to keeper which didn’t quite go to plan and allowed the striker space to nip in between and steer the ball into the Ammanford net.
Ammanford were restricted in the first half to two long range efforts on goal. The first was a Craig Frater free kick and the second a shot from Luke Borelli. Both efforts on goal were easily dealt with by Pontypridd’s goalkeeper Giannis Michail.
Pontypridd held the lead at half time and looked in complete control of the game.
The second half saw Ammanford try to increase the tempo of their game but couldn’t break through their opponents defensive lines.
Ammanford supporters were encouraged after 66minutes when striker Lee Trundle made an appearance after being out for several weeks due to injury.
It was Pontypridd who seized their opportunity in the 74th minute when their centre back Dave Vincent headed home their second goal of the game.
Ammanford’s best chance of pulling a goal back came when Lee Trundle hit a lofted shot which drifted just over the crossbar with the keeper struggling to get back to his line.
However the result of this game was put beyond any doubt when Pontypridd substitute Kareem Leigh added the visitors third goal.
Ammanford have the chance to bounce back on Saturday when they take on Afan Lido at home.
