Ammanford secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Cambrian United, claiming back-to-back home wins in the process.

The decisive moment came just three minutes from time when Lewis Reed pounced on a rebound to score from close range, ensuring the Black and Whites triumphed in a battle of resilience and determination.

Unlike their reverse encounter with Cambrian, which had been fast-paced and open, this match was defined by both teams’ strong defensive displays.

Cambrian United had marginally the better of the first half, with Callum Bateman and Thomas Hillman both going close. However, they were unable to break down a solid Town backline, marshalled by Luke Martin in goal and Luke Harris, making his third debut for the club.

For the home side, Reed proved to be the main threat. Firstly, flicking a dangerous Harri Lawson corner across the six yard box before turning well under heavy pressure but firing just wide of the post.

The second half began with more attacking intent with Ammanford quickly creating two chances. Reed was denied one-on-one by a strong save from Cambrian keeper Morgan Davies, before a well-struck free kick from Tristan Jenkins was punched clear.

Ammanford continued to create opportunities but were struggling to keep their attempts under the crossbar. Euros Griffiths headed over from a corner, while Morgan Clarke’s powerful shot skimmed the crossbar, and last week’s hattrick hero Callum Thomas fired over from the edge of the box.

With ten minutes remaining, a penalty was awarded to the Black and Whites by Jack Stuckey after Reed was brought down by Davies in the area. After consulting with his assistant, to the bemusement of all in the Recreation Ground, the referee changed his mind on the original decision and awareded a freekick to Town instead which came to nothing.

Ammanford did not let that disappointment define them and they worked the breakthrough in the dying moments of the game. Substitute Rhys Davies saw his shot superbly saved by his namesake in goal, but the rebound fell perfectly for Reed, who made no mistake, tapping in from close range to seal a valuable three points for Ammanford.
