Ammanford were held to a goalless draw by league leaders Cambrian United as they continued their push for promotion.

A disciplined defensive display ensured the division’s most prolific side were kept at bay, allowing Town to move a point clear of Caerau Ely in fourth.

Wyn Thomas made three changes from Friday’s win over Baglan Dragons, with Matt Delaney, Babucar Sauane and Gavin Jones returning to the starting XI.

Jones had the first effort of the evening, though his strike was blocked and gathered comfortably by visiting goalkeeper Morgan Davies.

United arrived full of confidence after victories over fellow contenders Trefelin and Aberystwyth, and they soon showed why. Luke Martin produced a superb one‑handed save to deny Jack Fox and keep the scores level.

Despite enjoying long spells of possession, the visitors were restricted to long‑range attempts thanks to the excellent organisation of Seth Woodhouse, Sauane, Euros Griffiths, Chris Bell and Owain Davies across the back line.

When Ammanford ventured forward towards the end of the half, they carved out two strong opportunities of their own. Owain Davies curled narrowly over before his namesake in the Cambrian goal matched Martin’s earlier heroics by tipping away Dan John’s powerful drive.

United settled quickly after the interval, controlling much of the early second‑half tempo, yet chances remained scarce. It took until midway through the half for the first real opening, Martin saving well with his feet from Dylan Edwards.

At the opposite end, Jones’ tireless pressing almost paid off when he pounced on a loose ball, only to see his stabbed effort trickle agonisingly wide. Former Ammanford player Danny Birch then forced Martin into another sharp stop, and from the resulting corner United headed off target.

With the match edging towards its conclusion and every point crucial for the Black and Whites, Ammanford held firm. A lively, end‑to‑end finish produced no breakthrough, securing man‑of‑the‑match Martin his 13th clean sheet of the campaign and lifting Town back into third with three fixtures remaining.
