Ammanford maintained their unbeaten start to the JD Cymru South campaign with a hard-fought point away at Ynyshir Albions.

Both sides carved out clear chances, yet the deadlock remained and Town secured their third clean sheet in four outings.

The hosts, buoyed by their 3–2 win over local rivals Pontypridd United last weekend, began brightly and nearly took the lead within two minutes.

Luke Martin was called into action early, producing a fine stop with his feet after Ynyshir broke through Town’s defensive lines.

Although Ammanford survived the early scare, the Buns continued to control the opening stages. Martin was again alert, denying Callum Salter twice in quick succession midway through the first half.

Having made one change to the starting line-up following last weekend’s win against Llantwit Major, Ammanford found it difficult to establish rhythm. Their task was made harder when Rhys Davies was forced off with a nasty head injury after half an hour.

Town’s first meaningful chance didn’t arrive until stoppage time. Strong link-up play between Adam Orme and Harri Lawson set up Dan John on the edge of the box. The on-loan Cardiff Met star struck goalwards and a deflection sent the ball spinning towards the bottom corner.

Webber, though, reacted superbly. Adjusting his feet, he got a strong palm to the ball and denied Ammanford an opener that their first-half display had barely warranted.

Just before the break, Ynyshir threatened again with a pair of chances. Jago Norton headed a Cory Morgan free-kick inches wide, and Keiron Coles nodded over moments later to close out the half.

After the restart, Ammanford looked sharper. Even so, it was the home side who fashioned the first chances of the second period. Joseff Haig fired over before Morgan dragged a shot wide from a tight angle.

From the hour mark, the Black and Whites began to assert themselves. Their improved pressing and energy hinted at the form that had kept them unbeaten in their opening three competitive fixtures.

Luke Sylvester led the charge, pressing high and winning the ball deep in Ynyshir territory. His effort was saved by Webber, and although the rebound beat the keeper, a defender was on hand to clear off the line.

As temperatures soared, the Ammanford bench made a noticeable impact. Callum Humphreys headed into the side netting from a superb Lawson delivery, and Callum Thomas drove into the box only to be denied by a scrambling defence.

Late on, Euros Griffiths nearly mirrored his heroics from Town’s opening away trip of the season. His header looked destined for the net, but Webber was well-positioned to gather and ensure the points were shared.
