Ammanford moved to within one game of a coveted third‑place finish with an emphatic 4–0 victory over Newport City at the Recreation Ground.

A Dan John brace, complemented by goals from defensive duo Owain Davies and Euros Griffiths, ensured Town ended an impressive home campaign in which they were beaten just once in all competitions.

With so much at stake, a cagey opening might have been expected; instead, the Black and Whites struck after only five minutes. Dan John collected possession from Adam John outside the box and curled an inch‑perfect effort into the top corner.

City, viewed by many as outside promotion contenders this season, showed their credentials in the early stages. Ellis Sage found space in the area but could only bend his shot narrowly wide of Luke Martin’s post.

Their momentum continued down the left flank, where a series of free‑kicks came to nothing, before Ammanford seized control. Moments after Adam John had gone close, Callum Thomas reached the byline and delivered a superb cutback to present John with his 17th of the campaign.

Town nearly extended their advantage before the interval as two chances went agonisingly close. Dan John was denied from point‑blank range by the impressive Ed King in the visitors’ goal, before Davies struck the post from the resulting corner.

Davies did not have to wait long for his reward. Just after the restart, following another smart save from King to frustrate John, the ball was recycled to the far post where the left‑back tapped home from close range.

From that point, Town were in complete control, though the elusive fourth goal initially proved hard to find. Matt Delaney missed from the spot, while further one‑on‑one opportunities for Dan John and Charlie Davies were thwarted by excellent defensive recoveries.

Substitute Alex Giardelli then forced King into another outstanding stop with a venomous strike, before rattling the crossbar with a wicked free‑kick from a tight angle.

In front of a jubilant crowd of 431, there was still time for a final flourish as Town’s two most experienced players combined. Mathew Fisher, making his 401st appearance for his hometown club, delivered a deep cross to the far post, where Griffiths rose to head home his second of the season, setting up a decisive final‑day showdown away at Cwmbran Celtic.
