Charlie returns!

Ammanford AFC are continuing to reassemble their promotion-winning squad from last season, with the news that Charlie Davies will remain at the club.

Left-footed Davies joined Wyn Thomas’ side in January, making the switch from division rivals Newport City. A versatile player, he is comfortable operating on either wing in attack or in a defensive role at full-back.

During his time at Newport City, the 26-year-old scored four goals, including a brace in the Welsh Cup against Penygraig United and a dramatic last-minute equaliser against Baglan Dragons earlier in the season.

Prior to his spell at Newport, Davies featured for several clubs across South Wales, including Caerau Ely, Abergavenny Town, Trethomas Bluebirds and Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Speaking on his decision to remain in Carmarthenshire, Davies stated, “I’m delighted to be re-signing for Ammanford.

“Since joining in January, the club has made me feel welcome. I really feel like it’s brought the best out of me.

“The support and community spirit around this club is something special and it genuinely makes a difference.

“I can’t wait to compete in the Cymru Prem with a great group and hopefully surprise a few clubs in the league!”
