Matty’s back!

Ammanford AFC is delighted to welcome back Matty Delaney to the playing squad for the club’s maiden top flight campaign.

The attacking midfielder arrived last summer and quickly became a fans favourite with his tenacity, eye for goal and workrate. He enjoyed a quite stunning debut season. He picked up the supporters’ and managers player of the year in a term that saw Ammanford reach the Cymru Premier for the first time in their history.

After joining Town, he went onto make 27 outings in Black and White and scored 5 times in all competitions including one of the most famous goals in the club’s history, the 93rd minute winner away at Cwmbran Celtic to seal promotion and spark scenes of jubilation on and off the field.

This isn’t the 26 year old’s first experience in Carmarthenshire having played for Llanelli Town and Carmarthen as well as Goodwick in his home county before moving to SA18 in the summer of last year.

Speaking about his decision to remain at the club, Delaney said, “I’m delighted to be continuing my stay with Ammanford for another season.

“There was no hesitation for me to sign with the tight-knit group of players, staff and support that this club has.

“It’s a big step up to the Cymru Premier but I’m sure we will dig deep as a squad and hopefully have another season to remember.”
