Ammanford AFC Ladies made their debut at home in their opening fixture in the West Wales Women’s and Girl’s League against Johnstown Ladies.
As part of Ammanford’s Community of “One Club” the Ladies team sported their brand new kit which mirrors all the
other Club teams.
For the first game against Johnstown though, the Ladies had to change into their Away green kit as their opponents kit clashed with theirs.
Ammanford AFC Ladies Team Manager Deian Harries enthused about the squad at his disposal with some 24 players registered with the club.
An attendance of 60 supporters had turned up to watch the game and they didn’t have to wait long as Ammanford Ladies raced into an early lead.
Within minutes Johnstown equalised and later scored a quick couple of goals to take a substantial lead. Ammanford to their credit pulled a goal back but Johnstown came back again and scored to make it 2-4 to the visitors.
Ammanford were in no mood to let the game slip away and battled their way back into the game with a couple more goals to level the game at 4-4.
The game was to and fro with both teams scoring again to make it 5-5.
With less than ten minutes to go Ammanford got their 6th goal of the game to take the lead 6-5.
Johnstown had other ideas and got an equaliser to level 6-6.
The final whistle blew and the game ended in a very entertaining draw.
