Ten man Ammanford fell to late defeat for the second successive weekend as Afan Lido boosted their own survival hopes with a precious victory.

Lewis Reed had given Town the lead in the second half before Callum Thomas was dismissed five minutes from time. The red proved to be the catalyst for the home side as they scored twice in injury time to snatch the victory from the Black and Whites.

After making two changes to the starting lineup, a nondescript first half saw very little in the way of goal action. Reed went closest just before the break but his chipped shot was narrowly wide of the target.

The second half started in a similar manner but the hosts grew into the game. They had long spells of pressure and possession on the edge of the Town box.

Lido created their best chance by some distance in the 65th minute when the ball was played across the six yard area. Only a superb Luke Harris block kept the scores deadlocked.

The reprieve proved to be golden for the visitors as they took the lead with just under twenty minutes to go. Rhys Davies’ brilliant cross was met by Reed who glanced his header home at the near post.

The pivotal moment of the game with five minutes to go. Thomas illegally stopped a dangerous attacking move from the hosts. After referee Chris Ball had awarded the freekick, the Reds surrounded the young midfielder who retaliated to the confrontation. This was deemed violent conduct by Ball who sent the substitute from the field of play.

Things got worse for Town as injury time began. Morgan Clarke’s challenge was given as a spot kick which allowed Liam Mccreesh to smash the ball into the far corner of the net to level the scores.

The ten minute turn around was completed with practically the last touch of the ball. A cross from the left was glanced superbly to the far corner by Ioan Evans to put the Reds in pole position to avoid the drop from the second tier.
