Ammanford AFC is delighted to announce that it has been provisionally successful in its application for a Tier 1 Licence for the 2026/27 campaign.
Every club competing in the domestic top flight in Wales is required to hold this licence in order to participate in the JD Cymru Premier.
Clubs are assessed against a wide range of criteria, including Sporting Youth & Coaching, Infrastructure, Legal, Personnel & Administration, Financial, and Football Social Responsibility.
The acquisition of this licence marks a milestone day for the Town, as it is the first time the club has achieved this status after numerous attempts in previous years.
Vice Chairman and licensing lead Rhodri Jones said, “This is an exceptionally proud day for the football club. To have gone from playing in front of 50 people at a bus shelter to potentially competing in top-flight football in the town next year is a testament to the immense hard work that goes on behind the scenes.
“Everyone associated with the Town can be proud of this achievement, and we will continue to strive to provide the people of Ammanford with a club and facilities they can be proud of.”
The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Rhodri and the entire committee at the club to ensure this license application was successful.
The awarding of the licence means that, should Ammanford defeat Cwmbran Celtic next Saturday, the club will secure promotion to the top flight for the first time in its history.
