Trundle Magic inspires Ammanford victory over Barry

Ammanford started the season with a bang with a 3-2 victory against many people’s tip for the title in Barry Town United.A sunny evening saw a big crowd turn out and both sets of fans in good voice.Ammanford took the lead as early as the 11th minute, Lee Trundle holding off the challenge of two defenders before firing a low shot into the net  past Barry keeper Mike Lewis.Barry looked threatening at times without creating any clear cut chances.Ammanford looked the most likely to score again with Trundle hitting the post from a tight angle and Lewis having to make a couple of important blocks on the line.Barry did equalise in the 36th minute, Kayne Mclaggon taking advantage    of hesitation in the Ammanford defence to take the ball past Joe Massoro and slot the ball into an empty net.

The second half was an even contest with both teams looking for a second goal.Ammanford were holding their own against a strong and physical Barry team.It was Ammanford who took the lead in the 76th minute with  debutant Jordan Langley slotting the ball past Lewis into the far left hand corner of the net.Callum Silcox almost put Ammanford further ahead minutes later with a shot that narrowly went over the bar.Barry equalised in the 80th minute with a fortuitous goal from Mclaggon, a clearance appearing to ricochet off his foot and past Massoro in the Ammanford goal.There were some nervy moments in the Ammanford goal with Barry pressing for a winner however it was Ammanford who scored what turned out to be the winner in the 90th minute, Silcox hitting the ball across the goal mouth which was turned in at the far post by Lee Trundle sparking jubilant scenes in the home stand amongst the Black & White  Army.

Ammanford held firm during injury time to record a fantastic victory and three well deserved points.
