Ammanford salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to newly promoted Ynyshir Albions courtesy of a 92nd minute equaliser from league debutant Colin Harris on a wet Tuesday night at The Rec.
Ammanford had got off to perfect start with Lee Trundle calmly slotting the ball into the net in the 3rd minute. Ammanford failed to capitalise on that early boost during the first half and it was Ynyshir, who had played just two days earlier who were showing the greater energy, particularly in midfield. Ynyshir had a penalty appeal turned down in the 22nd minute which culminated in a yellow card for simulation for their forward Cory Morgan. Ynyshir upped the pressure at the start of the second half and the inevitable equaliser came in the 51st minute, Mark Crutch heading home following a set piece. Ynyshir took the lead in the 60th minute, Joe Eason firing low into the left hand corner of the net. Ammanford upped the pressure with the introduction of sub Richard Lewis adding some renewed energy to the team. Ynyshir were reduced to ten men in the 71st minute, Morgan picking up a second yellow for a foul on Lewis. The ten men dealt comfortably with Ammanford pressure but ten became nine in the 81st minute with Scott Jones also seeing red for a second yellow card offence . Ammanford frantically moved forward in search of an equaliser in the last ten minute. Just when it looked as if they were going to be denied up popped substitute Harris who fired the ball into the net past the despairing Ynyshir keeper. There wasn’t enough time for a winner and Ammanford secured their fourth point from the opening two matches.
