Match Preview: Caerau Ely vs Ammanford AFC

Ammanford AFC are off on their travels this weekend with a trip to the capital to take on another new face to the league, Caerau Ely.

Ammanford head eastwards in a buoyant mood and will be looking to extend our undefeated record this term after a miraculous ten-minute turnaround on Tuesday night at the Recreation Ground.

A disastrous first half saw Ammanford trail at the interval but thanks to a hattrick from experienced marksman Mark Jones, the Black and Whites emerged victorious from their evenings work.

Manager Gruff Harrison has a selection headache on his hands after all five of his substitutes on Tuesday night changed the game in their own way including hattrick hero Mark Jones.

Tristan Jenkins was lively down the left flank, Morgan Jones set up his namesake Mark for his second of the night, Mathew Fisher linked well with his fellow attacking players, Liam Samuel’s set-piece delivery was excellent.

Our opposition on Saturday are Caerau Ely who’ve made a successful start back to their life in the second tier. After winning the JD Ardal South West title last time out, the Young Guns made the best possible start to their campaign with a 4-0 victory at home against Abergavenny.

Despite the last two results going against them, they have come against formidable opposition in the name of Swansea Under 21’s in the Nathanial MG Cup and an away reverse to Afan Lido.

James Williams leads the scoring charts for the men from the capital with 3 whilst being closely followed by skipper Jack Ashford who has two spot kicks to his name from the first three fixtures. The Young Guns will be without Thomas McClean for Ammanford’s visit after he was given a red card following two yellows on Tuesday night.

The 23rd man on the pitch will be Joseph Gibson and he will be assisted by Connor Thomas and Ryan John Tudor.

The postcode for Cwrt yr Ala Road is CF5 5QT. Kick-off is at 14:30. The Black and White Army’s support is greatly appreciated by our players. With the last two games being decided in the dying embers of the game, we hope this time we can do the business earlier, for all our hearts and nerves!
