Ammanford maintained their 100% home record on a scorching hot day as they defeated a strong Cambrian and Clydach outfit at the Recreation Ground.
Matthew Fisher (pictured) gave Ammanford the lead before Jacob Cross equalised for the Cam Army. But efforts from Lewis Reed and Adam John either side of the half time whistle gave Town a deserved three points and keep their strong league record alive.
Tristan Jenkins had two strong claims for a penalty early on as Ammanford pressed in the opening moments of the game. Despite protests from the players, the bench and those in the stands, referee Jack Stuckey was uninterested in the appeals.
Just moments after Cambrian had a golden opportunity of their own through Danny Woolfenden, the hosts took the lead. Jenkins fed Fisher the ball inside the opposition half and he made no mistake rolling the ball home under the body of the onrushing Morgan Davies.
Minutes later, Town should have doubled their advantage. Fisher danced through the visiting defence and made his way to the byline. From a tight angle, he poked the ball goalwards. Despite going through the legs of Davies in the goal, the chance was cleared off the line and to safety.
Cambrian and Clydach were level just after the half hour mark. Ammanford struggled to get the ball clear after a series of ricochets in the final third. The last one of which landed kindly to Jacob Cross who unleashed a venomous shot into the top corner.
With the last action of the half, Ammanford regained the lead. Jenkins was again the provider of the goal as his cross was met by the glancing head of Reed. The club’s top scorer made no mistake, finding the back of the net to give Ammanford the lead at the break.
Both sides looked to try an control the game in the opening exchanges of the second half but aside from Jenkins’ effort from distance, there was little to trouble either keeper.
The Black and Whites doubled their lead after 63 minutes. Some fantastic play by Jenkins and sub Callum Thomas teed up John outside the area. The former Hakin man hit an unstoppable strike into the bottom corner.
Although the visitors were spending large spells in the Ammanford half, the defensive unit were composed and strong throughout.
Reed crafted two chances late on for Gruff Harrison’s side. First, he met a beautiful cross from the left hand side but his volley was inches over before he was found unmarked inside the area but could only curl his shot wide.

Roedd y ddau dîm yn ceisio rheoli’r gêm wrth i’r ail hanner ddechrau, ond ar wahân i ergyd Jenkins ac i’w heibio i’r postyn, doedd dim byd yn y gêm i drafferthi’r ddau golwr.

Pwysodd Cambrian am gôl i ddod â nhw yn ôl i’r gêm, ond roedd yr amddiffyn yn gadarn drwy gydol yr ail hanner. Cafodd Rhydaman y dwy ymgais orau ar ddiwedd y gêm. Yn gyntaf, aeth foli Reed dros y bar cyn iddo saethu heibio i’r postyn ar ôl ddod yn rhydd yn y cwrt.
