Ammanford AFC can confirm that defender Luke Sylvester has sustained a broken tibia during our recent 2-0 defeat to Llanelli Town AFC.
Sylvester, who was forced off the pitch in stoppage time, was immediately transported to hospital, where X-rays confirmed the extent of the injury.
The former Barry Town United player has undergone successful surgery but is now facing a lengthy recovery period as he focuses on regaining full fitness with the aim of returning to action for the Black and Whites in the future.
Since joining the club in August, Sylvester has established himself as an influential figure both on and off the field. Making 13 appearances for manager Wyn Thomas’ side, his performances have played a pivotal role in Ammanford’s rise up the league table and our successful Welsh Cup campaign earlier in the season.
Taking to social media, Sylvester said, “You never know what’s around the corner. I’m gutted to be injured and facing a long lay-off, but I can’t wait to get back out there with the squad. A huge thank you to everyone who assisted me at the ground on Boxing Day.”
Manager Wyn Thomas commented, “Luke has been a fantastic addition to the dressing room. Of course, we are devastated to lose him from a playing perspective, but more importantly, we are genuinely disappointed for Luke personally. We are all behind him and will provide him with every bit of support during his recovery. We wish him a speedy and full recovery.”
Everyone at Ammanford AFC sends their best wishes to Luke as he embarks on his road to recovery.
