Ammanford AFC is delighted to announce that goalkeeper Luke Martin has been retained ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 31 year old has enjoyed two stellar seasons between the sticks at Town since his arrival in the summer of 2023.

Since moving to the Recreation Ground, Martin has made over 50 appearances, keeping 12 clean sheets and making countless crucial interventions as the club secured 3rd and 11th-place finishes in successive seasons.

Last season, the goalkeeper was awarded the Players’ Player accolade at the club’s annual presentation evening in April.

Prior to his arrival in Ammanford, Martin represented Goytre, Port Talbot, and Llanelli. However, it is his time at Swansea University for which he is best remembered. In 2020, the students won the second tier but were denied promotion to the JD Cymru Premier due to licensing issues.

Speaking about his decision to remain at Ammanford, Martin said, “I’m really pleased to be staying at the club for the new season. The decision to stay was an easy one for me.

“I’ve really enjoyed playing for the club and the supporters over the last couple of seasons. We’ve got a strong group, and I believe this season we can push higher up the table and show what we’re capable of.”

Manager Wyn Thomas added, “Luke has been superb for the club since joining, and I’m delighted he’s back. He’s a consistent performer and provides a reliable presence in our back line. I’m really pleased with how the squad is shaping up.”
