Rhys is back!

Rhys Davies has become the latest member of the squad to declare his intention to stay in black and white by signing on for the 2025/26 campaign with Ammanford AFC.

 

As a youngster, Davies turned out for Carmarthen Town academy before making the switch across the county to join Ammanford, making his first team debut aged just 17. 

 

Whilst playing for Town, the winger played with Cheltenham Town’s academy before moving away to study in University. During his time at Hartpury University, he signed for Cinderford Town before earning a scholarship to study in America.

 

Whilst across the Atlantic Ocean, the 25-year-old played for UMBC Retrievers, a club based at the University of Baltimore, Maryland.

 

After completing his studies, Davies took a year out before impressing in preseason last summer to earn himself a reunion with his hometown club. Over the course of last term, he stood out with his determination, pace and work rate, which was capped off with three goals and two assists in twenty four outings in all competitions.

 

Speaking on his decision to stay, Davies stated, “As a local boy, I always take pride in playing for my hometown club so the decision to stay was easy.

 

“After having the season off prior to last season, it was great to be back playing in black and white while seeing us grow together. I want to kick on from last season and show that I’m an integral part of the team.

 

“With the developments of the club both on and off the pitch, I’m happy and excited to be a part of the club’s future.”

 

His manager, Wyn Thomas, added, “It’s great to have local players representing the club and it shows the pathway that is available to the youngsters coming through. Rhys had a strong season last year and I have no doubt that he’ll just continue to get better and better this year!”
