Ammanford AFC is pleased to confirm its pre-season schedule ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Pre-season plays a vital role in building match fitness and ensuring the squad is physically and tactically prepared for the season ahead. The chosen opposition will offer a variety of playing styles, providing valuable experience and a robust test for the players as they gear up for the challenges to come.
The first fixture sees the return of the Amman Valley derby, as the Black and Whites make the short trip to Glanamman to face local rivals Cwmamman United. The Blues currently compete in the highly competitive Macron West Wales Premier League and secured a commendable fourth-place finish last season. The two sides last met in December 2019, when Ammanford triumphed 3–1 at the Recreation Ground in front of nearly 800 supporters.
Next, Ammanford will travel to the Cambrian coast to face JD Cymru North side Penrhyncoch on 5th July. The Roosters, managed by Cymru Premier stalwarts Gari Lewis and Aneurin Thomas, visited Carmarthenshire last season as part of their own pre-season preparations and came away with a 2–0 victory.
The third fixture is a repeat of last season’s friendly against Morriston Town. The Swans will make the short trip west to the Recreation Ground on Tuesday 8th July. The previous meeting ended in a goalless draw, with both teams benefiting from valuable minutes on the pitch.
Ammanford’s final pre-season outing sees a high-profile clash against JD Cymru Premier side Barry Town United on Tuesday 15th July. The match will mark a reunion with former Town full-back Ellis Williams. The Linnets are entering their third consecutive season in the top flight after a dominant 2022 campaign in which they won the JD Cymru South, suffering just two defeats, one of which came at the hands of Ammanford at the Recreation Ground.
