Following consultation between the two clubs, it has been agreed that the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup, originally scheduled to be played in the capital, will be reversed, with Ammanford AFC now set to host Cardiff City FC.
The match will take place on Saturday, 19th July, with kick-off set for 14:30 at the Recreation Ground.
Despite competing in numerous Welsh cup competitions over the years, the clubs have never been drawn against one another. This fixture will mark the first-ever competitive meeting between the Bluebirds and the Black and Whites.
Chairman Rob Thomas stated, “This is a massive coup for the club, and it’s wonderful that everyone at Cardiff City has been so accommodating. It will be a pleasure to welcome them to our home.
“It will be great to host an EFL team and some of the brightest up-and-coming talents in Welsh football, as well as offering our side a chance to pit their wits against a very strong squad.”
Ammanford AFC would like to extend its gratitude to all at Cardiff City for their cooperation, communication, and understanding regarding this decision. We look forward to hosting them and their supporters in Carmarthenshire on 19th July.
