Rhys Davies stays!

Rhys Davies has become the latest member of the local contingent within the Ammanford AFC squad to commit his future to the club.

The versatile 26‑year‑old, now in his second spell with the club, has signed a one‑year deal that will extend his stay into a third consecutive season.

Davies began his footballing journey with Carmarthen Town’s academy before moving across the county to join Ammanford, making his first‑team debut at just 17. His development included time with Cheltenham Town’s academy, followed by spells at Hartpury University and Cinderford Town, before earning a scholarship in the United States with the UMBC Retrievers.

After returning from across the Atlantic, Davies impressed boss Gruff Harrison during the 24/25 preseason and rejoined his hometown club. He went from strength to strength, making a blistering start to the 25/26 campaign before an injury away at Trethomas Bluebirds curtailed his season in October.

However, the Ammanford native hasn’t wasted his time while sidelined. During his rehab, he launched FitLab in the town; an initiative aimed at helping people of all fitness levels get active, which continues to grow from strength to strength.

Reflecting on his decision to stay, Davies told us, “I’m honoured to be signing on for another season at my hometown club.

“To see how far we’ve come as a club and to have been a part of that journey is a special feeling.

“Reaching the top flight of Welsh football is a huge achievement for everyone involved, and I’m proud to continue to represent our town.

“I’m excited for the challenge ahead and can’t wait to get started!”
