Preseason 2023/24: Ammanford Town vs Chepstow Town AFC Match Preview

Ammanford Town AFC continue their build up to the 2023/24 JD Cymru South campaign on Saturday with a fixture against Chepstow Town AFC.

Following Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw against Evans and Williams, Gruff Harrison’s men will be looking at building their fitness and developing squad chemistry ahead of Town’s first competitive fixture in a fortnight’s time in the Nathanial MG Cup.

Town go into this match with having been bolstered by the news that Tristan Morgan and Lewis Reed have confirmed their intentions to be a part of Harrison’s squad for the next season.

Although Saturday’s game will be too soon for the former as he continues on his road to recovery, the Black and White Army have another opportunity to see Reed in action this weekend alongside other new faces Adam Orme, Harry Huddart, Leon Luby, Nich Arnold, Adam John and Jack Lansdown.

The visitors at the Rec on Saturday are Ardal South East outfit Chepstow Town AFC. A club full of history having been founded in 1878, the club formerly known as Chepstow Castle are the most easterly team in their division. Arguably, their finest achievement came in 2011-12 season where they were crowned the Gwent County League Division One champions.

Last term, they enjoyed a successful campaign finishing 9th in the third tier. Over the course of 30 games, they won 13, drew seven and lost 10 whilst ending with a goal difference of +3.

Our opposition come into this game having received devastating news of the passing of former player Mattie Davies following a brave battle with cancer. The thoughts of all at Ammanford AFC are with his friends, family and teammates at Chepstow AFC.

Kick off tomorrow is at 2pm and entry is at £3 and adult with concessions £1.

We look forward to seeing you there!
