Preseason 2023: Ammanford Town AFC vs. Seven Sisters Onllwyn: Match Preview

Ammanford Town take to the field for the third time in the space of a week on Tuesday night as they step up their preparations for the 2023/24 campaign.

Following Saturday’s 3-0 victory against Chepstow Town AFC, Town remain unbeaten in their 2023 preseason campaign with two further games to play ahead of a visit to Abertillery Bluebirds in the MG Cup on the 22nd July.

The first of which comes against third tier Seven Sisters Onllwyn AFC. The side based in the Neath Valley came to be in 2020 following a merger between the teams from the two villages. They are a team that will be familiar to our local rivals Cwmmaman United  having played in the same division last season as well as facing off against one another over the weekend.

In 2022/23, Simon Isaac’s men finished in a respectable 11th position out of a possible 16 in a tough division which saw the top 2 enter the Cymru South for this term. They won 11 games, drew 2 and lost 17 whilst scoring 38 and conceding 72.

The Black and Whites will be keen to build on their early season momentum and gain some valuable minutes ahead of the first competitive fixture a week on Saturday. After Jay Thomas and Callum Thomas’ strikes coupled with Lewis Reed’s second in as many games, confidence will be high heading into another important 90 minutes.

Entry to the Rec remains the same as other preseason fixtures at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions. Kick off is at 7pm and refreshments are available. Get down to support your town!
