Ammanford brought the curtain down on the 2024/25 campaign by earning a share of the spoils against Baglan Dragons at the Recreation Ground.
Nich Arnold struck late to cancel out Troy Connah’s header shortly after the break, securing a hard-fought point and confirming a 10th-place finish for the hosts.
The home side carved out the first clear opportunity in the early stages. Adam Orme slid a well-weighted ball through the visiting defence to pick out Lewis Reed. The prolific frontman, chasing his 19th league goal of the season, saw his low shot ricochet off the inside of the post, with the rebound striking the outside of the upright before drifting out for a goal kick.
That close call appeared to stir the visitors into life, and midfielder Dylan Thomas twice went close. First, he forced a strong save from Josh Hutchings before bending a free-kick narrowly over the bar.
Town’s most persistent threat in the first half came from Matthew Fisher. The winger dragged a low shot wide from the edge of the area and later sent a dipping half-volley just over the frame.
Moments before the interval, the Dragons came close to breaking the deadlock, only to be thwarted by Hutchings once more. Tom Davies’ well-struck free-kick beat the wall but was superbly turned away by the Town keeper.
Opportunities remained scarce following the restart. Josh Evans came closest for the away side, flashing a low effort wide of the target.
Town nearly found the breakthrough when Callum Thomas, returning from suspension, latched onto a loose ball in the box, but Matthew Stanton produced an excellent reflex save to preserve parity.
Having passed up that opportunity, Ammanford were made to pay just after the hour. A free-kick delivered into the area found Connah rising highest to send a powerful header into the far corner.
The home side laboured to break down a resolute defence, with only Adam John’s disallowed strike, flagged for offside, providing a moment of hope. It wasn’t until added time that another clear chance materialised.
Fisher, cutting in from the flank, unleashed a curling effort destined for the top corner, reminiscent of his goal against Goytre United, but Stanton, once again, was equal to it, tipping the ball over the bar.
It seemed that save would consign Town to their ninth home defeat of the season. However, having suffered their fair share of late heartbreak in recent months, it was finally their turn to flip the script.
A corner was swung into the area and Babucar Sauane met it. His effort was dramatically blocked on the line, but substitute Arnold reacted quickest, stabbing the rebound into the net. The Dragons’ players and coaching staff were incensed, adamant the ball hadn’t crossed the line, but referee Thomas Bevan awarded the goal on the advice of his assistant.
