Ammanford AFC is delighted to announce that Luke Sylvester will be plying his trade for the club in the coming campaign.
The fullback joined the club in late August 2024 and earned the man of the match award on his debut. In every appearance for the club, Sylvester played with composure and confidence, and became an invaluable member of the squad.
However, disaster struck on Boxing Day when a heavy challenge left him with a broken tibia which curtailed his season.
After a successful operation, the ex Goytre man has been working hard on his rehabilitation and is confident that he will be back in action soon.
He told us, “Ever since I got here, everyone at the club has welcomed me in and made me feel at home. Since the injury, the club has supported me 100% with everything. It made my decision to stay here a no brainer. I wouldn’t have had it any other way!”
Prior to his arrival in Carmarthenshire, Sylvester was a part of the Barry Town United squad that romped to the JD Cymru South title in 2022/23 and made the jump up with the Linnets to the top flight. In addition to Barry, the 26 year old has experience with Penybont and Pontypridd United in the Welsh football system.
Speaking about his retention, boss Wyn Thomas stated, “We were gutted to lose Luke at the end of last year and as a club, we hope we have supported him as much as we can. I’m delighted he’s decided to stay with us as he’s a quality player and one who makes our football team even better.”
All at the club are delighted to have Luke back and can’t wait to see him back on the field.
