Babucar Sauane has committed himself to Ammanford AFC for the forthcoming season after deciding to stay at the club for the 2025/26 campaign.
The Gambian, who previously played for Afan Lido and Brynna, made a huge impression both on and off the field after joining the club in January 2025, earning himself the Supporters Player of the Season award despite only playing eleven times in Ammanford colours.
However, in those outings, Baba proved himself to be an invaluable asset. Comfortable playing anywhere along the back four, he won the Subway Player of the Match award on two occasions, firstly on his debut against his former charges Afan Lido before a heroic performance against champions Llanelli ensured Town earned a clean sheet and the bragging rights in the Carmarthenshire derby.
Speaking about his decision to stay at the club, Sauane told us, “I was not enjoying football was about to give up on the sport but since I signed for Ammanford, they’ve made me feel welcome and I’ve started loving the game again so I want to say a huge thanks to the management, fans and my teammates for that.
“I am so happy to sign again with the Black and White boys! I can’t wait for next season to come and give my all!”
Wyn Thomas stated, “Baba coming back to us is a huge boost. He was instrumental to our club when he arrived and it’s not difficult to see why. His performances and attitude have been first class since he arrived. I’m delighted to have him here next year.”
Croeso nol Baba!
