It is with sadness that Ammanford AFC announces that Tristan Jenkins will not be returning to the club for the 2025/26 season.
The talismanic Jenkins, who represented the club across two spells, sandwiched between a stint in America, was one of Ammanford’s most prolific attacking threats during his time in Black and White. His pace, eye for goal, and trickery made him the envy of many teams up and down the country.
Averaging just under a goal every other game, Jenkins netted 50 goals in just over 100 appearances, including a breakout year in 2021/22, when he scored 23 times in 29 outings.
In 2023/24, a season in which Ammanford finished third in the league, Jenkins once again impressed, scoring 13 goals and earning a nomination for the JD Cymru South Young Player of the Year award.
Although his final year at Ammanford was hampered by injury, Jenkins still made invaluable contributions, including a stunning solo effort away at Baglan Dragons and an outstanding performance leading the line against Trethomas Bluebirds, where he set up Adam John for the opener.
On his departure, Jenkins said, “I want to say a massive thank you to everyone at the club for making the past six years the best possible time I could have had at any football club.
“The fans, the players, and the coaches are some of the best around. It’s more than a club – it’s a family. I wish everyone nothing but the best for the coming season, and I’ll still be down the Rec whenever I can during the season.”
Jenkins has become part of the fabric of Ammanford AFC and everyone at the club will miss him and his family dearly. He leaves with the heartfelt thanks and very best wishes of all at The Recreation Ground and we look forward to seeing him return as a supporter soon.
